So Sweet and Healthy
I have been a bit of a health nut lately. I have given up most sugars, but I still love sweets. I mean, I LOVE sweets. It's hard for me not to give into the temptation of sweetening everything I eat. I like Splenda and Sweet 'N' Low too, and I know those are good for you. It was on a recent trip to the grocery store that I found this. I have heard of corn syrup, but didn't really know what it was. I didn't realize it was so sweet! I certainly didn't realize that something so sweet could be made from a vegetable! Now, I am realizing that so many of the things I love are made with this vegetarian syrup! This corn syrup is the best, it tastes so good and if you use it five times a day you don't have to worry about getting the right amount of vegetables (remember it is made from corn!). I have chosen this "light" version of the syrup because I am so into my health lately, it doesn't taste too much different from the regular. I also like the vanilla flavor they have added. You...

much better than tins
I first discovered "golden syrup" in the beautiful green & gold tins. While not nearly as lovely on the shelf, the transparent plastic bottles are MUCH superior in measuring, pouring and storage. I found the tin imparted a nasty metallic taste to the syrup, if stored after opening. So, I started substituting dark corn syrup whenever possible :(Squeezing the syrup into a measuring spoon or cup is easier, tidier and more accurate than pouring or dipping. No bitter off-taste and better unit price? GREAT! I'm stocking up!

Great product, poor packing
As a kid I grew up enjoying Lyle's Golden Syrup. Our family had it as a special treat and to help medicine go down! It has been difficult to find here in America, especially at a reasonable price, so I was very happy to find it at Amazon. I have ordered it twice now and will continue to order it in the future. I like the bottles it comes in, they are so much easier to use than the traditional tin cans. The only problem I have had is with our second order. The bottles were not packed very securely in the box and a couple of them burst open during shipping. When we opened the box there was syrup all over the interior, a gooey mess. When we informed Amazon of the problem they immediately sent a replacement order which arrived in a timely fashion. I was very pleased with their response although a little worried since the packing of the second box didn't look much more secure than the first. It did make if safely though.

Okay for pancakes but not as good as the can.
The canned version is better (for everything) as it is thicker and tastier. The bottle version seems to be looser and not as flavorful. It is admittedly more convenient, but I don't think the loss of flavor is worth the convenience.

Best syrup
The greatest tasting syrup ever made. Excellent on toast, no other syrup can come close. Forty years ago I thought it was the greatest and it still is! I am having a hard time purchasing it in my province in Canada and it is worth the effort to order it on line. I wish they would expand their distribution.

Thick and luscious
Besides being sweet, does sugar -- from sugar cane -- have a flavor? It does! And when the sugar boils down into syrup, the flavor comes out. So, okay -- it IS sugar. Politically incorrect. Empty calories.... I know, I know. But whether you take your sugar "naturally" in fruit or honey or "unnaturally" in hiprocessed candies and sugar-coated cereals, the chemical is the same....And the thing is not to get too much. And if I'm going to have a certain amount ANYway, there are days when this is how I want to eat it. Ly'les Golden Syrup is a nice flavor alternative to honey, or maple syrup. The texture is thick like honey, but the flavor is light. It has much more "depth" and thickness than corn syrup. If you like crisp, Belgian waffles, this is great on them --with or without pats of melted butter. My grandma used to use this more than 50 years ago and I started loving it as a kid. She put it in frostings and who knows what else. But I just like it as it is... dip your...

GREAT FOR BAKING
I used this years ago when I lived in Europe and tried it again recently when I found it on Amazon. It adds a wonderful molasses taste in recipes calling for corn syrup, like pecan bars and chocolate frosting. It's a hit with my friends. One likes oatmeal now with a spoonful of the syrup.
