Black gravel ; it is what it is!
Gravel is gravel! Great for my betta bowl; def a bit on the smaller side (there isn't a lot in the bag), but it's only a pound. You could err on the side of getting two if having a good amount of substrate is important to you. Since this was just for my haunted fishbowl (so just seasonal; will just have it in my bowl for a month), I'm happy with it since I'll be putting my betta's old substrate back in after the holidays. If this was my permanent substrate though, I'd def err on the side of getting 2-3 bags for a 1-2 gallon bowl. : D

Well, a rocks a rock, right?
The picture may allude to the idea that these are quite large bags. I didn't notice the description stated 8.5 ounces so I was a little surprised how small the bag was, but that's at no fault of the seller. The rocks look great in the tank; the only very slight annoyance was how long it took to clean them before placing them in the tank. It took a good 15 minutes to wash and rinse (repeat about 10 times) before the water was clear enough for my satisfaction. Overall, I will purchase more when needed.

Great item for my goldfish!
Gravel arrived in a timely manner and in good condition from seller. I am pleased with the size of the gravel as it is not too fine and not too coarse for the aquarium I am setting up for my goldfish. Each grain of gravel is in the range of size of a coffee bean or slightly smaller. I've heard that if the gravel is too fine, the goldfish sometimes mistakenly eat the gravel since they like to "forage" for their food from time to time. However, I also heard that if the gravel is too coarse, then it provides less surface area for "good bacteria" to develop. So, I think I've found a good size to work with and I am pleased with purchase. I bought 3 bags total in black for my modest 6 gallon aquarium. Color offsets nicely with green plants and orange color of the fish.

Perfect Gravel!
I bought 2 bags of gravel for my 10 gallon aquarium and I'm happy with the swiftness of the delivery. The gravel is around the size of coffee beans as mentioned before so great size for making sure your fish won't swallow them. I'm getting a gravel cleaner to manage the waste and bacteria that bigger gravel can collect more easily than finer gravel. Overall great for any tank and safe for fish that have a tendency to want to eat gravel. It arrives quickly and looks beautiful.

Dye comes off while rinsing
The dye is not permanent. While rinsing, I noticed that my fingers turned blue. The water it did not show much color change. I had placed the gravel in a colander and that in a white bowl to catch the fines. After ~30 min in water the dye still rubs off and the bowl is stained blue. Will this harm fish? If this is normal a short comment in the description could have covered my concern.
